Hurts finished sixth in fantasy points per game in 2021, and then he gained A.J. Brown in 2022 and averaged 25.6 fantasy points per game — the best rate for a quarterback in a season in the past four years. He ranked second last season despite a poor end to last year.

There is also reason to believe Hurts can have an even better season as a passer. Kellen Moore, the Eagles' new offensive coordinator, generally has his offense ranking among the league leaders in plays. Philadelphia already tended to do well in these situations, but a few more plays certainly can’t hurt. Moore also passes more than the average team, which should lead to more dropbacks for Hurts.

The biggest difference is how often the offense will use motion. The Eagles ran a league-low 294 plays with motion last season, while Moore’s Chargers ran the fourth most (653). Moore’s Cowboys teams also ran a lot more motion than the Eagles in 2022 and 2021. Quarterbacks tend to average more yards per attempt with motion. Hurts had a 5.9% big-time throw rate and a 2.3% turnover-worthy throw rate with motion last season, compared to 4.9% and 2.5% clips, respectively, without it.
